Last Sunday, Angelina Love announced via her Twitter page that she had been granted her release from TNA Wrestling. She stated she was determined on pursuing other interests, and is now onto “the next chapter in her life”.
Of course, Love’s departure doesn’t come as much of a shock, since she hasn’t been used on TNA programming in months. If you can recall, she was previously released from her contract back in 2009, only to return a few short months later.
As history has shown, TNA is almost always open to allowing former employees return to the organization down the line. However, if Love was to make a comeback to Impact Wrestling sometime in the foreseeable future, what left does she have to prove?
Love is a record-setting five-time Knockouts Champion, most of which she achieved during her successful singles run in 2009. She’s feuded with almost every Knockout has on their current roster, and has played both a heel and face during her time with the company.
The last time Love was used in an important role on television, she was featured in an on-going angle with Winter, who claimed that Love was “under a trance”. In my personal opinion, it was one of the more ridiculous story-lines TNA has pulled in recent years, especially for a talented women’s wrestler such as Angelina Love.
Despite Love’s recent release, TNA’s Knockout division continues to flourish each and every week. WWE’s Diva division, on the other hand, is in need of some major reconstruction after floundering over the last few years.
As the number of women wrestlers in WWE continues to lessen, there is hardly any hope left for the dying division. Another major issue is that the Divas are sparingly featured on television, which of course doesn’t help matters whatsoever.
A few days following Love’s TNA departure, it was reported that WWE could quite possibly be interested in signing the former Beautiful People member. Personally, I find this as a brilliant investment on WWE’s behalf, as they are in desperate need of fresh talent in their Divas division.
While it’s still unknown as to when Kharma will make her anticipated return to the squared circle, there is no better time than now to start signing talented women athletes that can only benefit their dying division. Love obviously has the gorgeous looks that WWE looks for in their Divas, so she is certainly a perfect fit for the organization.
Much like any other released wrestler, Love must first endue the 90-day no-compete clause before joining another wrestling company. With the stunning lack of direction and talent left in the Divas division, one can only hope that Angelina Love is WWE bound in coming months.
